Pipestone Livestock Sales was reduced to rubble in a fire that blazed Monday evening, Mar. 1. However, there were no injuries and no livestock was lost.

At 6:30 p.m. during the evening feeding time Chad Parks was at the auction yard unloading a feed semi. “I have a bunch of cows calving down here,” he said.

He noticed smoke.

“When I came around front to the kitchen area, it was full of smoke.”

Parks headed around to the ring area which was also was full of smoke. “I could hear the flames.”

There was so much smoke that he couldn’t actually see the flames.

“I turned my attention to getting all the cattle out of the pens. Back out into the south pasture. We got everything out.”

The facility is a total loss, said Parks.
