The RM of Pipestone Community Development Corporation (CDC) has established a Storefront Improvement Program for businesses located in the RM of Pipestone. Applications are being accepted for the 2021 intake. The program is managed and administered by the RM of Pipestone CDC and provides funding for up to 50 per cent of the eligible costs to a maximum of $7,500 per commercial property.

“We envision assisting property owners and business tenants to improve storefronts in RM of Pipestone commercial districts. Supporting existing businesses to stay and grow in our community,” stated Tanis Chalmers, Manager of Economic Development.

This program willenhance economic possibility and vibrancy of RM of Pipestone communities by supporting visual improvements such as signage, facades, architectural features, siding, lighting and awnings. “There are multiple benefits to a community offering a program of this nature, we hope to see private sector investment and local business improvement,” said Chalmers.

There is also the potential for increased assessed values and tax base as a result of improved properties. Storefront improvements create an attractive business section for community residents and for tourists. Studies show that an improved community appearance supports recruitment of new businesses and residents.
