Russel man dies in vehicle rollover at Virden

At approximately 11:35 pm on Aug. 17, Virden RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 257, in Virden, MB. This marks the fourth road fatality in Manitoba within three days.

At approximately 11:35 pm on Aug. 17, Virden RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 257, in Virden, MB.

This marks the fourth road fatality in Manitoba within three days.

 

The investigation has determined that a vehicle, being driven by an 18-year-old male from Russell, was travelling eastbound on the service road, approaching the intersection, when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve and rolled into the ditch.

 

The young man was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.

 

The Virden RCMP along with a Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.
