Singers Wanted

Canada Games Gold Choir Opportunity
Piano

A call has gone out inviting singers to sign up to take part in a huge choir for the Canada Games.

Do you love to sing? Like the idea of being on National Television? Want to be a part

of Canadian History? The Canada Games Gold Choir is looking for you.

Raise your voice and be a part of the Hottest Summer in Half a Century!

Under the direction of Neil Weisensel, the Canada Games Gold Choir will perform two musical selections in the 2017 Canada Games Closing Ceremony, Aug. 13.

Neil Weisensel is a one of the most frequently-performed and prolific opera composers in Canada. His music has opened for former US President Bill Clinton, Oscar winner Al Gore and Justin Trudeau, and his big band collaboration with superstar Michael Bublé earned him a Genie nomination.

It sounds like an opportunity of a life-time, with the games right here in Manitoba, working under the direction of one of Canada’s unusual talents.

Weisensel has received grants, fellowships, and commissions from The National Endowment for the Arts (U.S.), the Canada Council, the Manitoba and BC Arts Councils, OPERA America, the Vancouver Opera Guild, and the Banff Centre. He holds advanced music degrees from UBC (Composition) and from the University of Manitoba, and lives in Winnipeg with wife Rachel and daughter Miracle.

In a brief conversation with the Media Relations Consultant she indicated that the key ingredient is a desire to participate.

Even the practice time will largely be at the discretion of the individual. Music and recording will be provided in advance to all singers and one group rehearsal will take place prior to show day. Experience is not necessary.

The dress code sounds simple - every Canada Games Gold Chorister will receive a limited-edition Canada Games t-shirt to be worn on the day of the performance.

The Canada Games Gold Choir will perform during the Closing Ceremonies at the 2017 Canada Summer Games on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2 - 4 p.m. on Investors Group Field, in Winnipeg.

Register online by June 15 to be a part of this unique opportunity. Registration (must be at least 16 years of age): https://callsheet.me/roles/75
