As summer reaches the half-way point the U18 Cougars are getting ready to take to the ice for the 2019/2020 season. This year the tryouts are the first weekend in September. The Cougars will play host to the 2020 Western Regional Telus Cup in Virden from April 2 – 5, so will have a long season ahead of them.

The Manitoba AAA Midget league has now changed its name to the U18 heading and will continue in this direction as time goes on.

The Cougars have Dennis McNish and his staff returning to the bench for the season and look forward to the fall tryout camp on Sept. 6 – 8. The Cougars will then host a six-team pre-season tournament the following weekend when six of the league teams will converge on Souris.

The Cougars regular season begins at home on Sept. 28 when they play host to the Winnipeg Thrashers, and then host the Interlake Lightning the following day.

The Cougars 48-game schedule will see them in Killarney on Nov. 23 and 24 when they play host to the Winnipeg Wild.

They will be in Boissevain on Dec. 6 versus Parkland, Jan. 17 in Melita versus Parkland and in Virden on a hockey day in Virden when the minor hockey will be featured all day with the bantam Cougars and the U18 Cougars playing ahead of the Oil Caps evening game.

The Cougars regular season will end Feb. 23 in Winnipeg.
