In international speed skating, Alexa Scott, formerly of Virden, skated with the winning Canadian Ladies Sprint Team at the ISU Junior World Cup #2 in the Netherlands. The team of Brooklyn McDougall/Alexa Scott/Abigail McCluskey clocked the winning time of 1:33.799 in a close finish over Germany, and China a close third.

Scott also was the silver medalist in her 1500m Ladies Juniors race. As a Junior, Scott stood eighth out of 61 competitors in the 1000m race.

From a strong last season where Scott raced in Italy and then in Alberta (earning three gold medals) and in competitions in Calgary this fall, she was chosen to compete in the 2019 ISU Junior World Cup#2.

This competition counts as a qualifying event for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne 2020.
