Strathclair Drama Club to present Singin’ in the Rain

Eva Stevenson and Brady Chyzyk (seen in 2016 production of Crazy for You) will reunite for Singin’ in the Rain.

Audiences at the Bend Theatre will be tapping their toes from Apr. 16 to 21 when Strathclair Drama Club presents their 36 annual musical, Singin’ in the Rain.

Silent movie star Don Lockwood will be played by Brady Chyzyk of Virden. Eva Stevenson will play Kathy Seldon, an aspiring stage actress with a beautiful singing voice.

Eric Menzies has been cast as Cosmo Brown, Lockwood’s best friend who is an accomplished musician and jokester. Beccy Ardiel-Voth plays Lina Lamont, Lockwood’s selfish and fame hungry co-star.

Movie producer R.F.Simpson will be played by James Comrie, and the hot-headed movie director will be played by Dan Voth.

Erin Brown has been cast as Lina’s best friend Zelda Sanders, and Nicole McLenehan will play the role of Dora Bailey, a radio show host.

Supporting cast and chorus members include: Christine Bailey, Jillian Beever, Mitch Bukarz, Cailee Creber, Kerry Fast, Murray Hagyard, Tricia Hunter, Greg Kirk, Brittany MacDonald, Shannon Mannall, Donalea McKay, Kelsey Michaudville, Peppe Michaudville, Connor Radcliffe, Terry Radcliffe, Sheila Runions, Stan Runions, Joanna Tolton, Lacey Winstone, and Lindsay Winstone.

The cast has been rehearsing for the past two months. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, March 17.

The 1952 MGM motion picture starred Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor and Jean Hagen.
