Sara Tack has settled into Virden and is preparing to open the Sweet Spot Bakery. Tack purchased the Bread Box from Eileen Price, taking possession on Jan. 1, 2021.

“I’m really excited to get started,” Tack said in a recent interview. But for now, although it was a turn-key purchase, she has a few things to get done to make the space her own.

Tack had been thinking of starting her own business for a while; now the time seemed right. She said, “I just had the idea in the back of my head, that I was ready to do it.”

She’s well acquainted with the baking industry, working her first job at the age of 14 in the Melita bakery. Since then, she has worked in several bakeshops and is an experienced cake decorator.

From Bruxelles, Man. near Treherne, Tack is on her own with her new Virden business. So, to get started she will stick to what she knows best – the sweet stuff – custom cakes, cookies, cupcakes and doughnuts.

She’s hoping to open up shop sometime in February. Like so many, she’s also hoping the pandemic will go away so the market for wedding cakes comes back to life!
