A historic photo as Virden school students pour through the doors of Tundra Oil & Gas Place to participate in the annual Terry Fox run. This photo is from September 2016, one of the first runs that took place in this town facility where citizens of every age could join in on the upper walkway, or skaters could do their laps on blades. This year will be different with a virtual run.

Sunday, September 20th - wherever you are! It’s “One Day, Your Way.” All across Canada, we will unite in spirit, not in person, for the first-ever virtual run. You and your family can participate safely from anywhere in your hometown – around the block, through the neighbourhood, or in your own backyard. Whether you walk, ride, swim or skateboard, the common goal is to raise funds for life saving cancer research and to honour Terry’s forty-year legacy by continuing in his footsteps. Because cancer research cannot wait for Covid-19 to be over. Because Terry asked us to try. Because it’s the 40th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope!

In 1980, Manitoba born Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope and brought Canadians together to help improve the lives of those battling cancer. Canadians have since raised over 800 million dollars for cancer research in Terry’s name, and the Terry Fox Foundation is excited to celebrate forty years since Terry united the country with his dream of a world without cancer, and to continue his efforts to help others.
