My wife Rose and I have resided in Virden for 10 yrs. We have been married for 43 years, raised three sons and have been rewarded with eight grandchildren.
I have been involved in family agriculture and construction businesses for 40+ yrs.
Throughout my business career, we have had the opportunity to work extensively with all levels of government, and with many communities helping them build and improve their facilities and infrastructure.
I believe that my business experience has given me some knowledge and experience that I can bring to council table, and I look forward to doing so.
I also wanted to give the residents of Virden another choice.
Council positions have often been filled by acclamation and I believe both the voters and the elected council benefit from an election.
Fortunately, in this election the number of candidates are providing a good selection for the ballot.
I believe Virden has tremendous potential.
We have geographic advantages, an active business community, a prosperous agriculture industry, and an oil industry that provide opportunities that few communities in Manitoba have.
It is important that local government make every effort to capitalize on those advantages and opportunities.
I want to promote and support policies for:
Responsible government and the best management and efficient use of taxes,
Economic development and growth of our tax base,
To attract new business creating more opportunities to retain our youth and attract new residents,
Planning and vision for the future.
I would also like to encourage all residents of Virden to go out and vote on October 24 to elect your mayor and council for the next four years.
