During the week of May 31 - June 3, Grade 4 students at Goulter, Elkhorn, Reston, and Mary Montgomery schools participated in an outdoor afternoon of wetland activities. Traditionally, these activities are shared at Eternal Springs with all Grade 4 students in the school division.

This year, Grade 11 and 12 leaders from Virden, Elkhorn, and Reston brought the activities to each school throughout the week. Stations included soil sampling, leaf and tree identification, aquatic life/critter dipping, water sampling, animal tracks and scat, and First Nations story and snack.

Freezies were the perfect way to cool off on those hot afternoons!

Each year, funding for these activities is provided through the Wetland Centers of Excellence program in partnership with Ducks Unlimited. VCI has been part of this program for more than 10 years with goals of student-led conservation, student mentorship, and community outreach.
