Virden Ag & Parts opened in the fall of 2020 to service the parts and machinery needs of farmers and homeowners in the area. As part of this new business Virden Ag also provides various equipment rentals.

“We moved to a new and larger location in January of 2021 to provide easier access to the products and services we offer,” says owner Matt Hipwell.

Virden Ag is now located at 136 Anson Road in Virden’s industrial park.

As the business continues to grow, they have added the complete line of Stihl power products including chainsaws, lawn and garden tools, power washers and vacuums.

Over the winter, Hipwell was doing his homework, “We were looking for products that are not represented in our region and then bringing them to the area.”

Current agricultural brands include Gaber Distributors, Westward Parts, and Jenkins Iron and Steel skid steer attachments. Virden Ag carries Legend Grain bins.

Within their warehouse you’ll find multiple choices in bale wrap and net wrap products, silage covers, grain bags, various types of air seeder hose and 49 North lubricants.

They are becoming well known as your local source for Trimble GPS, auto-steer and guidance systems.  Recent additions include Bushel Plus grain loss monitoring systems and Duck Foot components which are designed to help every farmer become more efficient.

Virden Ag carries cost saving inventions made on the Prairies. Hipwell shows an add-on piece of harvesting equipment, Bushel Plus, controllable from the operator’s smart phone, made in Brandon. “It shows how efficient your combine is. You weigh the seed, put that information into the app on your phone and you’ll find out how many bu./A. you are losing, and make adjustments.”

Along with parts and services, Virden Ag is now your local place to shop for short line ag equipment from well-known brands such as Farm King (haying, attachments and grain handling), Mandako (vertical tillage, one-pass equipment made at Plum Coulee) and Ag Shield.

They have added the new lines of Bednar tillage and seeding, JBS Equipment (manure spreaders and silage wagons), Hustler Equipment (cattle feeding equipment) and are working to bring more options for customers in the area.

Matt and Genn Hipwell have brought experienced staff alongside their manager Guy Pounder, who also runs a hundred-head cattle farm. Pounder spear headed Virden Ag when its doors opened last year.

Lynette Grumpelt joined as Virden Ag’s office/accounts administrator followed shortly by Trevis Hunter in sales. Trevis brings 39 years of experience in ag equipment business, having previously been with Morris Sales and Service.

Hipwell says, “Virden Ag is proud to be a local choice for ag and outdoor products. We look forward to supporting and serving you all in the future.”
