Virden Cadet Gibbert receives Hubbell Award

In a short ceremony, Friday, Aug. 23, Manitoba XII, Virden Dragoon Cadet, Chief Warrant Officer, (CWO) Eduarda Gibbert, was presented with the Hubbell award which also included a handsome cheque of $1,100.

In a short ceremony, Friday, Aug. 23, Manitoba XII, Virden Dragoon Cadet, Chief Warrant Officer, (CWO) Eduarda Gibbert, was presented with the Hubbell award which also included a handsome cheque of $1,100.

Gibbert was one of nine cadets in Manitoba to receive this scholarship award.

The ceremony was held at the Brandon Armoury where dignitaries, Mme. Linda Wall and Eldren Thune (ret. B/Gen) made the presentation. To see her receive this honour, Gibbert’s family from Kola attended and from Virden, CWO (retired) John Fefchak and wife Norma Tibbits-Fefchak were present.

A very deserving young lady, Gibbert was off to Calgary on Saturday, Aug. 24 where she will attend university.

ABOUT HUBBELL

Hubbell Awards Incorporated is a charity providing scholarships to Cadets currently enrolled in a Manitoba unit who will continue their education at a civilian technical institute, college or university.

The program began in 1967 and currently provides scholarships to youth enrolled in a Sea, Army or Air Cadet unit based in Manitoba. It’s given to outstanding cadets that demonstrate good leadership, comradeship, have a good academic standing, and physical fitness.
