Virden Lions Club opens its wallet again

Virden Lions doled out coffee, cookies and cash to community groups at ceremony.

It was a cold, wintery evening outside on Oct. 29 but the atmosphere inside the Virden Lions Hall was warm, friendly and full of anticipation.

The local Lions Club was giving away money again, as it does every year, sharing the fruits of its labour with the community.

The Lions distributed a grand total of $58,500, “close to a record amount” says Lion Barry O’Grady who emceed the ceremony and introduced representatives from each organization.

This year, 21 groups received Lions’ support:
