Virden and Melita both made the team! Star-FM DJ Tyler Glen used his weekly column to rank Westman towns on their sex appeal in honour of Valentine's Day. What did he base his rating system on? Road side attractions. Which explains why Melita and its 30-foot banana landed in first place.
Glen said of Virden, in sixth spot:
"It goes without saying that petroleum is the big economic engine in the community. However the roadside oil well attraction puts Virden in the top 10 of sexiest towns in Virden.
"The action of the oil pump makes many frisky on a cool spring night, and has inspired many townsfolk to expand their respective families.
"Oily petroleum products and their pumps are sexy. Super-duper sexy."
