VJH bids adieu to Grade 8 Graduates

Students received awards and other keepsakes from junior high

On June 29, Virden Junior High School recognized 56 Grade 8 graduates who will embark upon their high school careers in September. A “drive-up” ceremony emceed by Principal Don Nahachewsky was held at the front of the school. Each student arrived at their designated time and walked up the red carpet to be presented with a gift bag containing their academic and scholastic awards, as proud family members looked on.  

Quincy Smith received Top Academic Award and was Top Female Athlete in Grade 8 this year.

Matthew Kirkup was presented with Most Outstanding Student Award, Band Award, and received recognition as Top Male Athlete. 

Kendall Charles, the 2020-2021 Student Council President, received Most Outstanding Student Award, Band Award and was recognized as Top Female Athlete at Virden Junior High this year.

Abbi Gilliland earned Top Overall Academic Average in Grade 8 this year.

Grade 8 graduate Harley Hagan, an avid high school rodeo competitor, received a $100 scholarship towards post-secondary education from the Manitoba High School Rodeo Association.

Lincoln Shiels received Top Male Athlete Award at Virden Junior High School this year.
