At the WCG Charity Barbecue in front of Valleyview Co-op food store, Trent Bartley speaks to Peyton Landels. In support of Virden Spray Park, the community barbecue raised just over $1,700 and WCG matched that amount to provide a $3,400 donation to the spray park initiative.

With the recent completion of network facility upgrades in St. Lazare, Westman Communications Group has announced they have 100 per cent fibre connection in 34 communities, providing advanced communication services.

With a goal to connect their service areas to more resources that drive community growth, WCG took their staff on tour. An open house at Virden’s Lions Hall and a community barbecue in the Valleyview Co-op food store parking lot was part of the Connecting Westman initiative to the community.

John Quail, Chief Marketing Officer of WCG, said recently, “Our services have been well-received, giving our members more choice for entertainment and savings. With more wireless enabled devices in the homes competing for bandwidth, our no data cap plans are a great choice for customers. Having access to download speeds up to 150Mbps creates opportunities for businesses and other entrepreneurs.”

WCG has future plans to start fibre-connecting underserved communities in Western Manitoba, so they can benefit from high-speed Internet, Digital HD TV, and Home Phone services.
