Over the two-day Western Weekend, put on by the Elkhorn Elks Branch No. 381, the Manitoba Professional Chuckwagon & Chariot Association (MPCCA) competitors will thrill fans as they race two times Saturday and Sunday.

Western Weekend also features 5 Star Barrel Racing to run both days. Five breeders from southwestern Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan get together to put on this competition where all levels can win money. They expect more than 100 entries with over $5,000 in prize money available.

Live entertainment is booked for the beer garden. The Prairie Joe band from Oak Lake takes the stage Saturday with a variety of foot stompin’ music. With infectious energy and plenty of humour this band of brothers bring a variety of music that appeals to all ages.

Sunday, see Lyle Baldwin as Lone Wolf, on fiddle, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitars. Over the years he has toured many parts of North America and Western Europe, singing lead for the Foster Martin Band of Oakbank, Manitoba. He enjoys entertaining audiences with good old country music.

For Slo-Pitch fans and players, there’s a cash prize event as well.

Each day gets started with a Firehall Pancake Breakfast.

There will be food, fun and features for kids to enjoy all weekend as well.
