Dec 2 - Virden RCMP responded to a report of a male wandering along Highway 1 in various states of undress. Upon making contact with the individual, it was learned he was breaching conditions of an undertaking. He was released from police custody once sober for court at a later date.  

Dec 3 - Virden RCMP were conducting traffic enforcement in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth when a vehicle was stopped, and it was discovered there were approximately 2,750 cartons of illegal cigarettes, 90 tins of illegal chewing tobacco and 2.2 lbs. of illegally-purchased cannabis. The total street value of the items seized is approximately $290,000. A 50-year-old male and a 21-year-old male have been charged under the Customs and Excise Act as well as several Provincial Statutes and will appear in court.  

Dec 3 - Virden RCMP received a report of a possible fraud. An individual was trying to order items on a website and was charged multiple times for items that were not purchased. The investigation is continuing. RCMP would like to remind people to use caution when shopping online through businesses they are not familiar with.

Dec 8 - Virden RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and it was determined that the driver was not impaired, however was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle Canada-wide. A passenger in the vehicle had two warrants for her arrest. Both will be appearing in court at a later date.  

Dec 9 - Virden RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired in the RM of Pipestone. A suspect vehicle was identified and the investigation is continuing.  

During the week, RCMP have been conducting check stops as part of the Holiday Checkstop program. Four check stops were held throughout the Westman area, checking approximately 110 vehicles. One alcohol-related administrative suspension was issued, as well as numerous tickets and one criminal disqualified driving charge.
