Princess Lodge by Bernice Graham

Visitors with Addie Young recently were daughter Dorothy and husband Gerry Fox and daughter Kathy and husband Glenn Ritchie.

Joyce Heaman joined family on Saturday evening at Brennand’s and Sunday evening at Stan and Norma Millar’s. Also Mike and Courtney Millar and twin daughters were in attendance.

Debbie Benson visited Mom, Maxine Bedford for ten days and Sophie also.

The residents enjoyed a supper on Monday evening catered by Chicken Chef.

The birthday party for April was held on Tuesday afternoon in the Lounge with card bingo followed by dessert and refreshments. Ann Lansing and Bernice Graham were the April birthday gals.

Cheryl Magotiaox from Qu’Appelle, SK visited for four days with her mother, Irene Magotiaux.

The residents were entertained on Monday evening with enjoyable toe-tapping music by Leona Joseph, Larry Gabrielle and Len Downer, followed by a light lunch.

Evergreen Place by Irene Rowand

Things have been rather quiet around the Evergreen because of the weather and so on.

In April, we had four birthdays: Jessie Thiessen, June Gardiner, Pat Robinson and Ethel Walton. Leona Joesph, Gerry Lund and John Dunfield supplied the entertainment followed by birthday cake and ice cream – a wonderful evening.

Every morning we gather in the lounge for coffee and in the evenings we play cards or have bingo. Once a month the Royal Purple Ladies serve a delicious supper. Thank you girls.

We welcome two more residents - Steve Kotylak and Leon Vinck.

Phyllis Gompf  attended Asmore Bothe’s 80th Birthday tea on May 2, in Oak Lake at the Oakwood Place.

Irene Rowand had dinner with siblings on May 1, at the Wellview Golf Course. It was nice visiting with my family.

Finally nice weather is here. It’s good to be out and about listening to the birds and seeing the spring flowers coming up.

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice spring days.

Miniota News By Susan Poppel

The history book update committee is hard at work gathering and working on the update. If you have lived in the RM of Miniota and have not been contacted please don’t hesitate to send in your history. Also if there is anyone out there that would like to pre-order a copy of the new book, please contact us or send a cheque to Prairie View Municipality. Due to the overwhelming response we have extended the date to submit histories to May 15, 2017. We are hoping to have the completed books back by November 1, so they will make great Christmas gifts for the hard to buy for person. This is going to be a wonderful book and I am sure you want to be a part of it.

The Miniota Spring Fling was a great success. Good to see so many people come out!

Sympathy to Gerry and Dorothy Gow and family on the passing of Carol Gow in Winnipeg. Private services will be held at a later date.

While there wasn’t a big crowd, everyone who attended the Miniota UCW Spring Luncheon enjoyed the lunch and found some tasty baking at the bake table and books to read at the book table.

Don’t forget that the Miniota Golf Club and Campground is open for the season.  Look forward to seeing you there.
