The second annual Oak Lake Winter Festival, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18, has a line-up of unique curling events, along with horse-drawn sleigh rides, extraordinary entertainment and of course the Icemen Alumni hockey.

Favourites that are coming back again this year include the CARE Centre Breakfast, skating, milk jug curling, and a turkey toss.
Carleigh Babiuk, RM of Sifton, Recreation Director/Economic Development Officer says “I am really excited for our new events. We are going to have two incredible acts coming to perform. Christina the Crazy Hooper will be coming out to perform after the breakfast.”

This hula hoop entertainer has performed across Canada. Originally from Brandon, daughter of Brandon/Virden Businessman Dean Munchinsky, the Crazy Hooper gained notoriety when she was selected to perform on The Ellen Show a couple of years ago.

Another performer, AR Cash, the 2017 International Tribute Artist of The Year is bringing country music to Oak Lake for the Winterfest program, along with Ashley Robertson who portrays June Carter. It will be a good show with the band performing 50s and 60s country tributes.
“As exciting as those two events are, what I am most excited about is Curling Crokinole,” says Babiuk. “Construction has begun on an outdoor curling crokinole rink much like the one that is at the forks!”  Crokicurling was invented in Winnipeg just last year. It’s the hottest new cold-weather outdoor sport.
