RCMP are asking people to be on the lookout for a murder suspect who they believe crossed into Canada illegally about two weeks ago, June 24.
They say an American wanted on a murder charge in Texas has entered Canada from the United States at a location south of Winkler.
The 27-year-old man, Derek Whisenand, is evading police in the United States. He was thought to be travelling to Winnipeg and possibly eastern Canada.
Described as Caucasian, 6’ tall, 230 lbs with brown eyes and brown hair and last seen with a black goatee, Whisenand was travelling with a large, brindle coloured dog.
Also the subject of a warrant for arrest in Canada, Whisenand may be armed and is considered DANGEROUS, and is NOT to be approached.
