The active case count was more than 400 earlier this week.

The drop is especially pronounced in the Prairie Mountain health region, where tighter restrictions were imposed Aug. 25.

Masks continue to be mandatory in many public areas in the region and public gatherings are capped at 10 people.

The province has also started to release detailed data about COVID-19 numbers in different areas of Winnipeg.

Up until now, the data has only been available for the city as a whole. But now case counts are being divided up into 12 areas.
