WINNIPEG — Health officials say a student at a Winnipeg high school has tested positive for COVID-19.
But they say the Grade 7 student did not acquire the virus at Churchill High School, which had its first day of classes on Tuesday.
A news release says the student, while asymptomatic, attended class for a limited time and took public transit.
It says the risk of spread is low, as physical distancing was maintained at school and the student wore a mask while in the school and on the bus.
Those in the student's cohort are being notified and there will be more cleaning at the school as a precaution.
Officials say no one has been told to self-isolate but people should self-monitor for symptoms of the illness.
