Dear Editor:

I remember the Kitty Korner Cabins on the edge of the Highway near Virden.

There were several small cabins. There, they sold soft ice cream cones for ten cents each. Our family of four, on a hot summer day after making home-made bread, got in the car and headed out for ice cream cones with 40 cents.

We got our ice cream in the ‘50s and ‘60s, a brick of ice cream sold for 25 cents.

Then, across No. 1 Highway, there was an ice cream stand. - Lots of variety for a few years.

Virden Café sold ice cream cones for five cents each in the ‘50s.
