Golden Estates assisted living complex in Reston, in construction phase.

An inspirational new seniors’ residence has been constructed in Reston. This weekend, there’s a ribbon cutting Friday. On Saturday, Dec. 7, the public is welcomed to the Open House from 2 - 4 p.m.

This new facility is designed to cater to senior’s changing needs and accessibility, with wide corridors, ample natural light, soundproofing for resident privacy, and roll-in showers in all suites. Each suite is also provided with a microwave and small refrigerator.

Nutritious meals prepared daily by the staff, weekly light housekeeping, linen service, and optional organized activities address both social and physical wellbeing. The suites range in size from 405 - 445 sq. ft. Rental is on a monthly basis and the price includes all utilities and services (including cable tv and WIFI). “Golden Estates is beyond adequate; we are spoiled rotten!” said current resident Doris Pattison.

The building is centrally located in the community of Reston. A short distance from many amenities including the RES community building, nine-hole golf course, Reston Lake and splash park, various local businesses, and the Senior Drop in Centre.

“I don’t know what more we could ask for, we are pretty lucky to have a place like this in Reston,” stated current resident Shirley Williamson.

The facility is managed by a board, Pipestone Heritage Holdings Inc., appointed by the RM of Pipestone Council. Spokesperson Michelle Halls, Pipestone’s Chief Administrative Officer, says, “Staff is all local and have been hard at work since September.”

The nine-suite building is complete and eight suites are currently rented. Suite seven, the display suite, is suitable for a couple or a single resident.
