The Forgotten Road by Richard Paul Evans: Route 66. The second novel in the trilogy. Charles survives a plane crash and is now ready for a second lease on life and love. He plans to walk the entire length of Route 66 from Chicago to California where Monica lives and try to convince her to give him another chance. On the way he is immersed in the rich history of one of America’s most iconic highways.

Fade to Black by Heather Graham: Starring in a cult TV show was a blessing for Marnie, as she is now able to realize her dream of starting a children’s theatre naming it in honour of her father. At a comic con, where many of the different shows’ characters vie for attention and many are in costume, one of them approaches Marnie’s booth where she and four of her co-stars are ready to greet their fans and sell them photos. People think it was rehearsed and part of the show but after a crime was committed the character in costume merely left the scene, moving away, blending into the huge crowd.

Cold Skies by Thomas King: A Dreadful Water mystery. Thumps Dreadful Water, an ex-cop, is asked by Sheriff Duke Hockney to fill in for him while he is away. Before long there are two cases that demand his attention and he is determined to solve both of them.

After Anna by Lisa Scottoline: A thriller. Dr. Alderman, a widower and single father, has remarried, and he and his young son are both very happy. Maggie is very happy also, although she’s wishing she could have Anna, her teenage daughter, back in her life again. She hasn’t seen her since she was a baby. One day Anna calls and Maggie is overjoyed to see her again but things go wrong so quickly.
