No Exit by Taylor Adams: Called back to Utah to see her mother who is very ill, Darby, a college student, is caught in a fierce blizzard in the Colorado Rockies. The roads are impassable, and she feels fortunate to be able to stop at a remote highway rest stop, Wanashono. Four complete strangers have taken refuge from the storm and she is uneasy. Cell phone reception is pretty well non-existent. Going back out to try for better reception, she notices that the towel has slipped from the window of the van parked next to her. She is surprised to see that the small occupant in the locked animal crate is not an animal. Now what? And who does the van belong to?

Judgment by Joseph Finder: Juliana, compromised by a one-night stand while at a conference at a hotel in Chicago, learns that it has been recorded. As a judge rumoured to be in consideration for the federal circuit and maybe later the highest court in the land, she realizes the serious implications, especially when the gentle, vulnerable man from Chicago proves to have an integral role in a case that she is presiding over. Now she is entrapped in a clever conspiracy that would put her family in jeopardy.

The Wedding Guest by Jonathan Kellerman: An Alex Delaware novel. LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis, a homicide detective, and Dr. Alex Delaware are summoned to a wedding reception with a wild Saints and Sinners theme. It seems that an unknown, uninvited guest with no identification has arrived on the scene.

I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella: Fixie, living by her father's motto "family first", works to help her family in her father's housewares store now that he is no longer there. In a coffee shop, a handsome stranger asks her to watch his laptop for a moment. She agrees, saving it from certain disaster. Its owner, an investment manager, scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card to it. She knows that she will never claim it for herself. When Ryan, her childhood crush, appears back in her life, she decides to redeem the IOU, asking for a job for Ryan. The owner agrees, then a new series of IOUs is written between him and Fixie.
