Dear Editor:

Economic Action Plan 2015 announced the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. This program will be used to upgrade and for new infrastructure projects across Canada. Over
$46 million is available to community groups across western Canada, including right here in Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette.

Groups like cities and municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and aboriginal bands and governments can apply for infrastructure projects.

Those projects can include community centres, libraries, museums, recreational facilities, docks, and cenotaphs.

Of course, this is on top of our record-level of support for community infrastructure projects through the New Building Canada Fund.

This fund will provide $52 billion of funding for Canada’s infrastructure projects. We have already seen this program provide funding right here in Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette.
I encourage all community groups to apply for the Community Infrastructure Program by visiting www.wd-deo.gc.ca. Applicants have until June 17.

Through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, our Government is investing in local community projects that will help beautify Canada for its 150th birthday in 2017.
