Dear Editor:
The YWCA Brandon Westman Women's Shelter recognizes and commends the donation made by Virden Donor's Choice. In the last year, the YWCA Westman Women's Shelter was able to provide services to 200 women and 225 children in the Westman area. Many women who accessed the shelter had lived in domestic abuse situations and are now striving to develop positive abuse-free lifestyles for themselves and their children.
The funds received from Virden Donor's Choice support the organization in our efforts to end family violence through counselling, support groups, education and temporary housing and to achieve our goals of being a turning point for women.
The YWCA Westman Women's Shelter aims to provide basic needs to families coming into shelter from emergency situations.
We are privileged to receive this donation and proud of Virden Donor's Choice for helping us make a difference in the lives of families.
