Letter to the Editor
On behalf of our board of directors, committee members, staff and clients, the Westman Women’s Shelter thanks Virden Donors Choice for its continuous support. Your donation of $1,947 helped us ensure the safety and comfort of our young clients. The funds you donated were used to buy items such as playpens, baby monitors, diapers, formula, and other needs.
The families who access the shelter programs may experience physical, emotional, verbal, psychological, financial and sexual abuse. In 2017, the Shelter assisted 176 women, one man and 163 children fleeing abusive situations. That same year, we provided 2,333 counselling sessions, including 60 women in our follow-up program and 110 women in non-residential services.
We take great pride in our mission and our accomplishments, and with your help we can make a huge difference in the lives of many families and individuals.
