Sofina Foods Inc. is recalling Janes brand Pub Style Chicken Nuggets across Canada due to risk of possible Salmonella contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the food recall on Wednesday, March 21, warning consumers not to eat the product described by the food product supplier.

Specifically, consumers should not eat the, “Pub Style – Chicken Nuggets – Breaded Chicken Cutlettes – Uncooked,” in an 800 gram package with the expiry date of December 15, 2019. The UPC code is 0 69299 12490 3.

The recall was triggered during a Canadian Food Inspection Agency investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. On February 25, Sofina Foods Inc. also recalled Crisp & Delicious brand Chicken Breast Nuggets due to a possible salmonella contamination.

CIFA notes that other products may be recalled as the agency continues its food safety investigation.

Chicken Nugget Recall

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
