Six months after the fact, millions of dollars raised and countless celebrity endorsements later, the Rio Theatre has been officially saved.
A $375,000 conditional grant from the city, along with an increased mortgage sealed the deal on what was an $8 million purchase for the 80-year-old East Vancouver theatre.
Theatre operator Corrine Lea made the announcement on Facebook on Tuesday morning and the Courier is awaiting comment.
