The Cougars went into the break winning four of six games in nine days finishing with a record of 18-11-1 for 37 points, five back of Pembina Valley.

Yellowhead 6 Southwest 5

Yellowhead scored twice in the last three minutes to escape the Cougar den with the win. The Cougars jumped out to a two-goal lead as Hunter Wallace scored a shorthanded goal midway in the first. Colton Miller hooked up with Trevor Hunt 12 minutes in. The Chiefs got on the board at the 16 minute mark.

Myles Sobry scored an unassisted power play goal seven minutes in the second for the 3-1 lead only to have the Chiefs score three unanswered goals to take a 4-3 lead after two periods.

The Cougars tied the score when Matthew Ramsey scored a shorthanded goal from Wallace in the sixth minute and took the lead five minutes later as Luke Robson lite the lamp. The Cougars had the game in control but a couple of bounces saw the Chiefs tie the score at 17 :15 and just over a minute later a crazy turnover saw Slade Stanick all alone in front of Eric Reid and he sniped the game winner.

Eric Reid turned aside 31 shots while Nathan Falloon stopped 24 Cougar shots for the win.

Brandon 7 Southwest 3

The Cougars failed to show up Friday night in Brandon as the hosts picked up a rare win. The Wheaties opened the scoring in the first minute. Colten Miller evened the score from Braeden Lewis and Trevor Hunt. The Wheaties scored three times in the period for a 4-1 lead. The second saw Cody Gudnason snipe one from Jordan Boyechko before Brandon sniped three more for the 7-2 lead.

Luke Robson scored a shorthanded goal from Hunter Wallace late in the third for the final score of the game. Tyson Gregory stopped 27 shots for the win. Kieran Stewart four of eight in the first. Eric Reid took over in the second and stopped 10 of 13 shots the rest of the way.

Southwest 9 Brandon 5

The Cougars exploded for a big win to head into the Christmas break.

Ramsey opened the score on the man-advantage as he jammed a puck home for Boyechko and Hunt to grab the early lead. Trevor Hunt then scored a shorty as Ramsey set him up nine minutes in. Ty Earl scored 37 seconds later.

The second period was wild as the teams combined for eight goals. Cody Gudnason jumped out of the sin bin, took a pass from Colten Miller and went in all alone to dent the twine at 2:11. The Wheaties scored 23 seconds later only to have Luke Robson hook up with            Zach Turner and Hunter Wallace on the power play. The Wheaties then scored a couple on nice goals just over a minute apart to even the score. Hunter Wallace came out of the corner and snapped a shot home, glove side, to regain the lead from Lewis and Sobry at 16:51. Myles Sobry them scored with two minutes to go in the second from Ramsey and Boyehko.

The third saw Brandon score with the man advantage six minutes in, but the Cougars responded with a pair as Jordan Boyechko hooked up with Owen Harris and Myles Sobry. Colten Miller then rang one off the cross bar from Lewis and Wallace in the 12th minute for the convincing win.

Eric Reid turned aside 16 shots for the win while the Cougars fired 39 shots on the Brandon net.

The Cougars return to action in January to face the Norman Northstars in a pair of games.
