The Cougars then scored back to back power play goals. Zach Turner scored from the point. Trevor Hunt found the net on another wicked point shot for the 3-0 score after one.

Parker Korman took a bouncing puck and roofed it behind Eric Reid to get the Chiefs on the board midway through the period.

Luke Robson buried a centering pass from Colton Miller to take a 4-1 lead and the game was close to being out of reach. The Cats got themselves in penalty trouble and were down by two men. Yellowhead made them pay, scoring a couple of power play goals 67 seconds apart to get back into the game. The Cougars were able to shut the Chiefs down and escaped with the win.

Eric Reid faced 28 shots, while Chief’s Nathan Falloon faced 22 Cougar shots.

Chiefs 7 Cougars 4

The Chiefs got the Cougars back to earth early jumping out to a three-goal lead. Myles Sobry scored early in the second from Nolan Wickham and Cody Gudnason to get the Cougars into the game. The Chiefs responded with a power play midway through the second. Trevor Hunt hooked up with Wallace and Lewis at 16:15 and then Jordan Boyechko tipped it home from Lewis two minutes later.

The Chiefs broke the Cougars spirit with 46 seconds left on the clock when they scored from the point. The two teams went to the dressing room with the Chiefs suffering an injury on the play.

Yellowhead finished the third with a pair of goals as Dillion Birch scored at seven minutes in and then Trevor Hunt scored his second of the match from Braeden Lewis. Cole Topham finished the scoring with an empty net goal. The Chiefs outshot the Cougars 39 - 35 in the win
