Skate Canada Manitoba held a High Performance Figure Skating Clinic on May 5-6 at the Tundra Oil & Gas Place arena. Two teams, the High Performance Team with 14 athletes, and the Developmental Team with 21 athletes attended the clinic. Each athlete had to earn their spot on the teams.

The clinic is a part of the programming offered by Skate Canada Manitoba to team members. “It offers the whole package,” says Cadfan Edwards of Skate Canada Manitoba. On-ice training is offered by two highly proficient coaches from Ottawa. Off-ice (dry land) strength conditioning is offered by specialists in the field, and a sports psychologist is available as well. Edwards adds, “The seminar is an opportunity for high performing and elite skaters to skate together.”
