Oak Lake’s KJ Wallace had a successful third season for the St. Norbert College women’s hockey team.

“KJ is extremely coachable and is always learning,” St. Norbert head coach Meredith A. Roth said. “This has allowed her to develop over her time here at St. Norbert.  She is very fast, an excellent skater, and this year she stepped into a bigger role, playing center for us for the majority of the season.”

Usually a winger, the daughter of Tod and Penny Wallace stepped into the centreman role last season. She recorded four goals and five points while paying top six forward minutes. The veteran, who has one more season of eligibility, also established herself as a leader for the Green Knights, an NCAA Division III school based in the Green Bay suburb of De Pere, Wisc.

“KJ stepped up this year, it being her third year on the team,” Roth said. “She has an infectious attitude, and is always bringing good energy to the rink. That rubs off on people. She is invested in her teammates and expects a lot from herself and others. It's a pleasure to coach her and be around her everyday.”

The head coach is pleased to have Wallace for one more season.

“I love KJ and her family,” Roth said. “She epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete here at St. Norbert.  I'm looking forward to her final season and her stepping up even more.”
