Virden born, Scott sets record

Alexa Scott set a new Canada Games record, winning Gold in the Long Track - 3000m - Female with a final race time of 4:33.83. Now living in Clandeboye, Scott grew up in Virden where she began skating.

Alexa Scott set a new Canada Games record, winning Gold in the Long Track - 3000m - Female with a final race time of 4:33.83.

Now living in Clandeboye, Scott grew up in Virden where she began skating.

She began as a figure skater but found her niche in Speed Skating.

She has captured three gold medals this past week: Long Track 3000 metres, Long Track 1000 m and the Mass Start event.

Scott has skated her way to the top consistently. This January she was crowned Canadian Junior Long Track Champion at the Olympic Oval in Calgary and earned a spot on the World Junior Championships team.

Manitoba’s Tyson Langelaar captured Gold for Speed Skating Long Track - 1000 m Male.
