Roach sisters help Regina Cougars to softball championship

Five Manitoba players on the winning ball team

For the second straight year, the University of Regina Cougars, including Virden’s Brooklyn and Mackenzie Roach, are national softball champions. The team won the title last weekend at the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association championships in Kitchener, Ont. with a dominant performance. The Cougars beat the University of Calgary, 5-3, to win the title again. The daughters of Nicky and Doug Roach are two of five Manitobans on the team. The others are Winnipeg’s Horizon Senff, the granddaughter of Oak Lake’s Maureen and Bob Senff; Caleigh McLaughlin of Neepawa; and Kylie Matiowsky of Souris.
