Community group looking for help to host event

Prairie View Municipality held a regular meeting on June 23 at 9:00 a.m. in the Miniota Chambers. Members present were Clark, Bertram, Butler, Fulcher, Howard, Salmon, Oliver and Wilson.

The final school month of Virden Junior High was once again very busy and exciting.

Ken Fosty, representing Tree Canada, worked alongside Ryan Canart, manager of Upper Assiniboine River Conservation District, and some enthusiastic Grade 1-4 students to plant trees at Mary Montgomery School on Friday, June 26.

Two weeks ago, senior students at Elkhorn School were recognized and awarded. Last Friday, June 26, it was the turn of all the younger students with the K-6 Awards Ceremony.

In many Canadian rural communities, graduation from the local high school is a major event. It is a right of passage from the known and safe world of their community to the next step in life for some of them who choose to leave.

The Virden Collegiate Graduation ceremony was beautiful; the pageantry celebrated achievements and pointed to future hopes.

The Canadian Angus Association (CAA) is pleased to honour Heartland Livestock Services of Virden with the Auction Market of the Year Award.
