A fire in the tractor shed at Virden Arena caused an estimated $6,000.00 damage. The alarm was received by Virden Fire Department at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Monday.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but most of the damage was to the tractor, which is used for cleaning and flooding the ice.
Fire Chief Bill Edmonds reported that the fire did not cause more damage due to the quick action of Erle Kingdon, who shut the door to the tractor shed and started fighting the fire before the Department arrived.
