Miniota News ByBev Peel
Belated get well greetings from the Miniota community to Kevin Lelond who had heart surgery in Winnipeg in March. He is recovering and getting out for walks.
With all the rain and snow people are going to feel more shut in, so here is a little story:
"Just be careful because people are crazy from being in lock down!
Actually I've just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster while drinking coffee and we all agreed that things are getting bad.
I didn't mention anything to the washing machine as she puts a different spin on everything.
Certainly not to the fridge, as she is acting cold and distant.
In the end, the iron strengthened me as she said everything will be fine, no situation is too pressing.
The vacuum was very unsympathetic ... told me to just suck it up, but the fan was more optimistic and hoped it would all soon blow over.
The toilet looked a bit flushed when I asked its opinion and didn't say anything.
But the door knob told me to get a grip.
The front door said I was unhinged and so the curtains told me to ... yes, you guessed it ... pull myself together."
Sympathy from the Prairie View Municipality to Linda Clark and families on the passing of her mother, Hanna Reid on April 5th. Also to Hanna's other family members Marilyn Reid, Harold Reid and Donna Gammack and their families.
Evergreen Place By Helen Martens
A greeting to all readers of the Empire-Advance. We are all in the same strange situation here in Virden. We, at Evergreen, are keeping safe in isolation; some more than others, but we stick close to home during these stressful days.
The Common Room is open to anyone for coffee. Social distancing is regarded as a very strict rule. However, we can communicate even though we sit 6 feet apart. On the whole, everyone seems to be in good spirits, hoping this lock-down situation will be over soon. Some keep being productive with different activities and hobbies in spite of all. We are encouraging residents to make donations to the Food Bank. We collect what is donated for pick-up later. Let us all be mindful of one another and spread kindness to those who may be struggling more than others at this time.
This is Easter weekend. Many of us would be in a church service this Sunday if possible. I wish you all a sense of God’s presence with you, wherever you are.
Quote for the day;
“People don’t always need advice. Sometimes all they need is a hand to hold, or an ear to listen and a heart to understand them.”
