Kenton News by Paulette Wiens

Congratulations from the community to Jane Van Den Hoek and Dustin Corney on their engagement.

On a bright, clear and sunny afternoon, March 1, ladies from Hamiota and Kenton gathered at the Kenton United Church at 2 p.m. for World Day of Prayer. It was hosted by the Kenton Ladies Auxiliary. The theme this year was “Come, Everything Is Ready!” (for the banquet) which was prepared by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Slovenia. The afternoon started with a greeting of "Dober Dan!” This greeting literally means “Good Day.”

Several women of Slovenia shared their experiences and concerns from the readings done by members of the Auxiliary. The audience took part in some readings that were listed in the program. Several hymns were sung throughout the afternoon. We appreciate Eileen Kent playing the piano for the afternoon. The Scripture reading was taken from the Gospel of Luke 14:15-24, “The Parable of the Great Banquet.”

An offering was taken for the World Day of Prayer Canada for Slovenia. A prayer was recited together (program) and followed by the reciting of the Lord’s Prayer. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed the service.

Deepest sympathy is extended from the community to Ernie Dusessoy and family on the passing of his wife, Lou.
