Arts Mosaic is very excited to be included amongst more than 7,500 free activities that are already registered to take place in some 900 communities across Canada as part of the eighth anniversary of Culture Days happening on Sept. 29, Sept. 30, and Oct.1, 2017. Culture Days will allow Arts Mosaic an extraordinary opportunity to share Virden’s Cultural Community in an engaging way.

Taking place at the CPR Historic Centre, this day will grant residents of Virden and Area a behind the scenes look at local artists and their work. An artisans ‘flea’ market will take place on the CPR Historic Centre grounds. There will be a Highland Dance demonstration, a Pow Wow demonstration and Rockabilly Dance demonstration. Kel Smith will be offering two historic walking tours of Virden. The Costume Closet will be putting on a red and white fashion show in honor of Canada’s 150th. There will be a free Make and Take Aromatherapy workshop and a free Papermaking workshop. The Virden & Area Settlement Services will be hosting a come and go reception from 1:00-3:00 p.m. There will also be a fundraising barbecue put on by Strays that Can’t Pay and a bake sale provided by The Virden Skatepark Committee.

The opening ceremonies take place at 11:00 a.m., and the entire event will run until 3:00 p.m.

Celebrating its 8th Anniversary, Culture Days will be celebrated in hundreds of cities and towns from coast to coast to coast, with thousands of free activities from a wide range of disciplines including: visual arts, music, dance, theatre, architecture, heritage, film and video, literature, culinary arts and new media.

About Culture Days

Millions of Canadians engage in thousands of free activities and performances hosted by artists, cultural organizations and municipalities in communities across Canada. From Nunavut to New Brunswick, and from British Columbia to Baffin Island – and all points in between – we share all the inspiration, artistry, creativity and expression that reflects the mosaic of Canadian culture. As a leading national voice for an active and engaged cultural life, we provide marketing and industry development resources that lead to greater cultural engagement. The Culture Days national awareness campaign culminates in a three-day celebration of the arts starting on the last Friday of September.
