Terry McIvor performs regular, yearly maintenance of hydro-poles in RM of Sifton on Jun. 24. He digs approximately two feet down around the pole base, pounds holes in the pole, and fills the holes with a pesticide/preservative fluid. This is done to prevent rotting and ant infestations which could ultimately damage hydro pole structure. McIvor has been doing this type of work for eight years and says, “We do this to every hydro-pole, every year.”
