Summer 2017 brought many MINIONS back to P.W.R. Summer Day Camp. We had another terrific summer. Everyday we did something new and exciting to follow along with our theme days. We also tried to complete at least one Minion themed craft or activity to go along with our Summer theme, “You Are One in A Minion” once a week.
We had many returning kids this year to join our Day Camp, as well as some new faces! For my first year as the Summer Recreation Assistant I could not have asked for a better summer or group of kids. Rayna, Maddy and I have truly enjoyed this summer and we are already planning and looking forward to what next year has to offer.
Our Day Camp took part in many different Adventure Days that the kids really enjoyed. We took part in a tour of the Virden RCMP Detachment where the kids got a tour, and to ask some actual police officers questions about the job. Some other places our leaders took the campers to was the Virden Pioneer Museum, Gopher Creek Cafe, Ice Cream Island, and Moe Gray’s “Moe’s Bowls” where the kids got to go in his workshop to see how everything is done behind the scenes, and then we ventured to the Arts Mosaic Gallery because Moe was being featured for the month of August. Our last adventure was to Westwood Ranch. The staff there was awesome at including all the children, and letting them interact with the animals.
I have loved every minute of my job this summer; the smiles and laughter of all the children shows that we are giving them memories to last a lifetime and we hope to continue doing this again next summer for some returning faces again, as well as welcome some new ones.
