Is anyone out there interested in purchasing our new History Book? We want everyone to pre-order so that we know how many books to get printed. We don’t want to have a lot left over so please get your order in – we don’t want anyone to be disappointed. The history book will cover the previous R.M. of Miniota so that means: Arrow River, Beulah, Crandall, Isabella and Miniota. There will be a lot of reading in this book. To pre-order you can send a cheque for the deposit of $50 payable to Prairie View Municipality and mail it to Bridging the Years Box 145 Miniota, MB R0M 1M0. We will be taking orders until Sept. 15, 2017. Don’t be disappointed – get your order in soon.

Sympathy of the Miniota community to Rita Dodds and family of Brandon, as well as all of the Armitage families on the passing of Jack Dodds on Aug. 12 in Brandon.

Visitors with Renee and Bill Armitage, Hollis Stewart and Ron and Shelley Gardham and family were Renee’s daughter Wendy and granddaughter Jada of Denver, Colorado.

Sympathy of the community to Bob and Donna Gardham, Marilyn Krecolowich, Ron and Shelley Gardham, Laurie Gardham and Rob, Frank Gardham, Rodney and Loree Gardham, Duncan Mitchell and Janice Carnegie and all of their families as well as the family of Brian and Donna Grace Gardham on the passing of Harry Gardham on Aug. 14.

Congratulations to Kelly Gardham and Chelsea Tumak on the birth of their little girl, Andie Elizabeth Gardham. Andie was born on Aug. 20 in Brandon General Hospital and weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. Congratulations to grandparents Ron and Shelley Gardham of Arrow River and Derrick and Cori Tumak of Lac Du Bonnet as well as great grandmothers Hollis Stewart of Miniota and Beverly Johnston of Winnipeg.

Wayne and Susan Poppel traveled to Winnipeg and visited with Jan Malanowich and other cousins while they were there.

Get well wishes to Ollie McKean who recently underwent surgery in Winnipeg.

Good luck to all the students returning to school this fall – we wish you all the best and good luck to all the little Kindergarten students starting school for the first time this fall, Evan Armitage, Jocelyn Brown, Talia Brown, Natalie Couvier, Katie Howard, Riley Lelond.

Hope everyone had a great September long-weekend. Harvest seems to be going quite well although some areas got more moisture than others last week.

Karen Powell was a recent visitor with Betty Ann and Sharon Ellerington.

Visitors with Marjorie Tapp last weekend were Alisha, Gillies, and Shawn Korarchuk and Karen Naumiuk of Winnipeg.

Delbert Bowles of Elkhorn visited with Ethel Bowles last Wednesday.

David Greenlay of Leduc, AB spent a week visiting with his mother, Ethel Bowles and sister Donna Everett. They all attended the Greenlay reunion at Napinka.

On Monday afternoon, Aug. 28, two former pupils, Marion (Lindsay) Horvatt and Donald Lindsay called on Marge Tapp. They had attended Verity; a one-room country school 67 years ago.

The residents enjoyed a chicken supper from Chicken Chef last Monday evening.

Dorothy reports that after nine weeks in various hospitals it is good to be home. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff for their special care. Many thanks to all who visited, sent cards, well wishes and baking. Special thanks to all my family who were always there for me.

Judy Stewart and friend Colin from B.C. visited Mom, Norma Shurvell. They did the rounds of family and friends, shared stories, happenings and food. They went to Killarney to see Sheila’s new residence by the lake. All is calm and in order again.

Dorothea Amy’s granddaughter Tatum Amy is off to University in Calgary. Dorothea has a new great great grandson, Kolt Harry Asselstine arrived on Aug. 27, and is the son of Derrick Asselstine and Kayla Ferris.

Mae Watters went to Brandon on Sunday, Aug.  17 with Linda and Allan Wotton to celebrate her great grandson’s 5th birthday.

Marg Taylor and Dorothy Howard enjoyed their time at Dorothy Plaisier’s 90th birthday Aug. 25. A great time was had renewing acquaintances.

Mary Hurlin enjoyed visiting with Rick and Wendy Hurlin and family. While there they enjoyed attending Mama Mia at Rainbow Stage.

Dorothy Argue was happy to have a visit with Brian and Jen Argue and daughters Matlynn and Kiera from Whitecourt, B.C at Danny and Karen’s.

Barry and Althea Asselstine took Dorothea Amy to visit Doris Asselstine in the Shoal Lake Nursing Home and then supper at their home in Birtle.

Lynn and Marlene Amy visited with Dorothea before we joined 27 other people for a delicious barbeque at noon at Andy and Christa Nash’s campsite at the Miniota Golf Course – lots of food, visiting and laughter.
