ACC Practical Nursing Open House

On Apr. 3, Assiniboine Community College (ACC) hosted an Open House for the Practical Nursing and Comprehensive Health Care Aide Programs in Virden.

On Apr. 3, representatives from Assiniboine Community College (ACC) hosted an Open House for the Practical Nursing and Comprehensive Health Care Aide Programs at its rural rotating training site in Virden.

Angela Falconer, Academic Chair for the Rural Rotating Nursing Program, and Student Recruitment Specialist Amanda Dorscheid provided prospective students and their families with an overview of the content and details regarding the admission requirements.

Sarah Gallant, a Career Development Consultant with the Province of Manitoba, and Shauna Keam, Manager of the Virden Employment Skills Centre, added information regarding eligibility for financial aid and assistance available in finding employment once training is complete.

The programs involve full-time studies, with a classroom and practical/clinical component, and take two academic years to complete. Falconer noted that the initial 25 students are now working through their practicum and their prospects for employment within Manitoba, once finished, are good.

Applications are now being accepted for the next student intake, with classes to begin in September. More information may be found at www.assiniboine.net.
