Anna Thiessen of Oak Lake is awarded for high point reining and high point average in reining. Kristen Chartrand, the MGRA vice president presents Anna with the award. She also receives a headstall, reins and a hat.

A young gymkhana competitor from Oak Lake, Anna Thiessen, is the recipient of several awards from the MGRA (Manitoba Gymkhana Rodeo Association). She’s the daughter of Patti and Russell Thiessen. The 18-year-old Anna says, “I’ve been a part of the MGRA since 2016 and have enjoyed each of the four events, western pleasure, reining, pole bending and barrel racing.”

Interested in promoting her sport, she has gone on to participate in a greater way. “I’m now a director on the MGRA board, and we are excited for a new show season and hope to see some new people join the club.”

Thiessen won the reining awards on Flames, a homebred horse that she raised and trained herself. Out of 15 MGRA sanctioned events this past year, she competed at eight of them with Flames.
