Arts Mosaic re-opens with new room layouts

Arts Mosaic has updated its venue and hopes the public will drop in and check out the new options.

During the months of April and May, the CPR Historic Centre at 425, Sixth Avenue South has been closed to the public. The former train station has been the home of the area’s arts organization, Arts Mosaic, since 2000. This spring, Arts Mosaic has updated its venue, hoping to better accommodate public participation and they're extending an invitation to the public to stop in and check it out.

If you are looking for unique gifts made by local artisans, shop the Mosaic Market located within The Station. Inventory will be seasonal, change every three months and will feature up to 20 different artists selling pottery, paintings, home decor and more.

The air-conditioned Station offers plenty of space for people to gather. Its walls will be adorned with the exhibition of the month. In June, the collegiate’s Grade 9-10 art will be on display. Don’t miss it!

Within the Main Gallery and Study/Gallery 2 you will find space for dry media like knitting, writing, reading and drawing. The Studio Room has large tables for multi-media projects.

Also on a monthly basis, a community project will be determined and the public is invited to come in and participate in that project at no charge. The June community project is "Wings."

Tucked around The Station, patrons will find various art supplies and instructional books, free for use. Those who can are invited to leave a donation or become a member, sponsor or patron. Donations keep the supplies flowing so Arts Mosaic can help ignite the creativity in everyone who visits The Station.

Currently, the venue is being operated by members of the volunteer board of directors, with new hours: Tuesdays 2 - 7 p.m., Thursdays 3:30 - 7p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturdays 12 - 5 p.m. The Station will be closed on Thursday, June 22nd for Grad.

The Costume Closet is open Mondays and Thursdays from 3 – 6 p.m. or by appointment.

Keep an eye out for upcoming programming and events, listed on Arts Mosaic social media and www.artsmosaic.ca

Arts Mosaic will host its Annual General Meeting on June 15th at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Arts Mosaic thrives through member and patron participation. Generous local business donations help to provide art projects, at no cost to the community. The board of directors say new members and sponsors are always welcome.

Arts Mosaic is a non-profit, registered Canadian Charity and serves the communities of Canupawkpa Dakota Nation, the RM of Pipestone, RM of Sifton, Town of Virden and RM of Wallace-Woodworth.
